The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has introduced a mandatory Foreign Worker Settling-in Programme (FW SIP) to enhance educational efforts. The FW SIP is a 1-day orientation programme to educate Migrant Workers (MWs) on Singapore’s social norms, their employment rights and obligations, Singapore laws and where and how to seek assistance.
Starting with the construction sector, all first-time non-Malaysian Work Permit holders whose work permit application is submitted on or after 1 October 2018 are required to attend FW SIP.
From 1 December 2019, all first-time non-Malaysian Work Permit holders in all sectors (except Services) must attend the FW SIP to learn about their employment rights and other useful information.
All MWs on Work Permit must attend the FW SIP within 14 calendar days of arrival.
